--NOTES--
This tab can be read best when printed in a font where all characters are the same width.
I used 12 pt Courier New when I made it.
This is tabbed from the Derek Webb "iTunes unplugged EP" available only from iTunes.
This is also the way it is played on the Derek Webb live recordings available at
ftp://shane:barnard@ragamuffin.dyndns.org. Chords also correspond directly to those on
"i see things upside down", but the rhythm is much different on that version, and it
isn’t as much fun to play that version with just an acoustic guitar (in my opinion).
I would play the A with just your index finger and keep that pressed down for most of the
chords – it makes things easier. Also, there are a couple of places with some “ad
libbing” that I did not try to include. These are simply pull-off’s and
hammer-on’s
between the DF# and Asus chord forms. I didn’t add these because the chord names are
already confusing and messy enough as it is, and trying to cram in the last of the little
stuff would make things much harder to read and follow. I’ve marked the places where
this
happens with a .

I’ve got faith in the bank
DF# Asus DF#
And money in my heart
Bm7
I’ve got a calloused place
A DF# Asus DF#
Where You’re ring used to be, my love
I’ve traded naked and unashamed
For a better place to hide
For a righteous mask,
A suit of fig leaves, and lies
E
I thought the cattle on a thousand hills
F#mE
Was not enough to pay my bills
G DF#
And I fell in love with those who proved me wrong
Dsus DsusG# DF# A BsusA A
And now... I... want a broken heart
DF# Asus DF#
There’s a great padlock
On the place where I was free
And I’m feelin’ bad
From swallowing that key
Now I work real hard
But I mostly call in sick
Of a broken back
From the ground fighting back at me
I cannot look you in the eye
So (I) check the knots on my disguise
‘Cause I fell in love with fashion in the dark And now I want a broken heart
(interlude – just verse chords)
I’ve got alibis for every crime
A substitute to do my time
‘Cause Your hear breaks enough on both our parts And now I want a broken heart And now
I
want a broken heart And now I want a broken heart
A BsusA (4x)
